Carolyn Kuchel is a licensed therapist specializing in individual, couples and family therapy with a special focus on those in recovery from substance dependence and addictions. She maintains a private practice in Fairfax, Viriginia.
With her experience as a marriage and family therapist, and as a graduate of the Virginia Tech Marriage & Family Therapy Program specializing in Emotionally-Focused Therapy, she is currently serving as private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are substance abuse, anxiety and depression, anger management, grief counseling, family of origin work.
In addition to being an effective marriage and family relationship therapist, Carolyn has extensive experience as a Substance Abuse counselor in a community agency residential setting giving her knowledge and practical experience counseling those in recovery from alcohol dependence and addictions.
Carolyn is a systems-oriented, emotion-focused therapist. Her experiential/systemic therapeutic approach is to help clients restructure emotional responses, provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
